Kimo, originally from Hawaii, joined the military at 19 and later settled in California with his family. His service left him with PTSD, a challenge that he started to fight, when Gunny, a 2-year-old German Shepherd, entered his life. With the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation, Gunny is becoming more than a pet; he’s a crucial part of Kimo's recovery.
Gunny supports Kimo in profound ways. He instinctively disrupts Kimo's nightmares and provides a comforting presence. He also performs tasks like 'block' and 'cover' to help Kimo navigate social situations and crowded spaces.
